Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a non-surgical treatment that enhances skin and hair follicle regeneration by utilising the body’s natural healing potential. It is a natural alternative that use plasma, which is a blood component containing proteins that encourage cell growth. These activated platelets generate and release at least seven unique growth factors that promote the normal repair of skin and hair follicles.
During PRP Therapy, a small blood sample is drawn into a sterile tube. The blood tube is placed in a centrifuge to separate the blood’s plasma and platelets.
After a few minutes, the PRP layer is removed and reintroduced into the body at the treatment area. Using a little sterile needle, our practitioner will inject the PRP into and around the targeted area. Injecting PRP into the tissues of the skin encourages the development of new, healthy cells and enhances the healing process. As a result of the concentration of tissue growth factors in the PRP injections, the body’s tissues regenerate more rapidly.
Even after the first treatment, the PRP will brighten, revitalise, and rehydrate the skin by stimulating the production of collagen. To experience the full benefits of this new technique, it is recommended to have three to four sessions.
PRP therapy is known as plasma or stem cell therapy, made famous by the ‘Vampire or Dracula’ facelift. The treatment utilises your body’s own ability to regenerate, heal and rejuvenate the treated area. The idea is that injecting PRP into damaged tissues will stimulate your body to grow new, healthy cells and promote healing and regeneration. The procedure is simple, safe and is very beneficial, achieving amazing natural results.
The practitioner will draw a sample of your blood from your arm. The amount of the sample depends on where the PRP will be injected. The blood is placed into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is then injected into the desired area using very fine needles.
There may be mild discomfort from the injections and a tingling sensation. This is a normal part of the healing process. A mild erythema (redness) may be visible for a few hours in the treatment area.
The treatment will give you an instant skin ‘glow’ on the days following the procedure and then the magic begins as the actual process of new cell formation starts. You will continue to see improvement over the next 30 to 90 days as you produce new cells in the treated area.
Everyone’s needs are individual depending on the area to be treated. Your practitioner will discuss this with you during consultation. The standard protocol is at least 3 treatments per year, this depends on the area being treated and individual circumstances. Hair restoration requires more treatments.
